Welcome back everyone for our July blogpost! If your summer 2023 is going anything like ours then you’re probably busy either having fun or working really hard on a summer job. Either way, we want to keep this blog post short so you can get back to (hopefully) enjoying your summer. Without further ado, lets begin!

Crystal Ignition LLC Stands With the WGA

and SAG-AFTRA!

For those of you unaware, 2023 has seen a flurry of union activity. This can be seen most prominently in the film industry. Hollywood is currently locked in tense negotiations with both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA. At the moment Crystal Ignition LLC does not yet possess enough content nor revenue required to join either union. With that being said, we here on the east coast stand with both unions in their struggle. Our CEO Taylor Coleman issued an official statement on our Youtube channel. We sincerely hope that the actors and writers are able to negotiate a fair deal and we ask that everyone in our community support and encourage the union members in these difficult times. We ask that instead of watching this summers blockbuster films, consider donating that money to the union of your choice.

App Release Update!

Today we have some unfortunate news. Due to issues concerning our previous development partners we have made the difficult decision to cancel the release of the IOS version of the app. Due to limitations with our new UI we have also decided to route all casting call updates through Twitter and our discord until our next app update post launch. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we are working diligently to get our app back online.

Youtube Channel Updates!

If you’ve subscribed to our YouTube channel then you’ll know that this month has been busy for us on that platform. We have two new filmmaking videos out along with new shorts! This month our CEO started a new series called, “On Set Stories” detailing his filmmaking journey. We have also updated our banner and YouTube channel description, so give it a read when you get a chance!

July’s Book of The Month!

Wrapping things up we have July’s book of the month! As we said earlier, we wanted everyone to be able to enjoy their summer and get a break from all the studying and reading. As such, July’s book of the month is the classic book On Directing Film by the legendary David Mamet. This book is a retelling of a series of lectures Mamet gave on directing film at Columbia University’s film school. It’s only one-hundred pages or so and we highly recommend the book to anyone looking to direct films. You can pick up your copy today from our friends over at Books-A-Million!
